Q: My photo is important to me, is there any risk to the original photo?
A:
NO, Everything we do is done digitally on a computer. If we are working with a print photo, we will scan it and work with the digital version. The original print is never modified. If providing your original digital photos, we always make a copy and work on the duplicates (though there is no need to worry about this if you use our handy photo upload tool).
Q: How can I send you my photos?
A:
If you're having us work with your digital photos, then all you need to do is use our photo upload page. There are input boxes available for you to describe what you'd like done with each photo. If we will be working from your print photo, we will be happy to come pick them up if you live within 15 minutes of the 54552 zip code. You are also welcome to drop them off or mail them to us.
Q: Do you print photos?
A:
We do not personally print photos though we can help you select a company who does.
Q: Can I scan my own photos and send them to you?
A:
Absolutely! If scanning your own photos, you can send them in either JPEG, TIFF, TGA or PSD format. We recommend you scan the photo at 300dpi.
Q: Can you retouch/scan negatives & slides?
A:
We don't currently work with negatives or slides, but we hope to make this service available in the future.
Q: What type of restorations can you do?
A:
- Repair tears and cracks
- Clean up dirt and specks
- Sharpen and brighten poor originals
- Recreate (to a limited extent) missing areas
-
- Color correction or desaturation
Please understand that small pictures can't be enlarged too much without losing sharpness or becoming too grainy. Also, very grainy originals can only be improved to a certain extent. We can improve poor originals, but not make them perfect. The better the original, the better the reproduction.
Pictures that are out of focus can't be brought into focus.
Areas of your photos that are missing can be recreated if we have visual references to build from. If you have another photo with similar areas, you can send that for us to work from as well.
We can improve poor originals, but not make them perfect. The better the original the better the reproduction.
Q: Is there anything you cannot do?
A:
We can't scan and alter copyrighted photos unless you have written permission from the copyright holder (usually the photographer who took the photos).
